Enthiran - Give standing ovation!

Yes it is a little late review. But for a Rajini movie, review after 4 days of release is a very late one. Already lakhs and lakhs of people must have seen the movie and thousands of people might have seen it more than once by now (Probably my numbers are low). When I have reviewed even the worst movies Tamizh cinema had ever seen, it will be injustice if I don't write about one of the best movies of Tamizh cinema, Endhiran!

People are calling this a movie of its kind. Even I am calling it the same but not just for reasons told by all like technicality, location, cinematography etc etc. For a movie like this with so much of investment and an urge to make huge profit, lot of expectations should be created. Movie should be screened in many theatres and they should run house-full shows for the initial days (despite sky rocketing ticket fair), have a decent crowd for many days and most importantly audience should feel that the movie is beyond expectations. Endhiran satisfies all the criterion and so it is definitely a movie of its kind!

Rajinikanth... Thalaivaaaaaaa (Remember I am a Kamal fan!).. What a performance! After Netrikan, I enjoyed your performance inch by inch! I don't know what you meant when that small cute girl ( She comes in most of the ads. I don't know her name) turns back and you laugh at her in the last scene. This is how I interpret it. "You will also grow up some day and become a heroine and even then I will act as a hero pairing you". You are the real hero! Unakku azhivillai! :)

Aishwarya... Beauties may come and beauties may go. But there is only one who always stays in our hearts and it is Aish. Sabba! Kannulaye nikkara pa! Sorry Abishek Bachan! ;)

Santhanam, Karunas & Danny Denzongpa - Not much of work for them since Rajini was present throughout the movie!

Crystal clear cinematograpghy by Rathnavelu and it was pleasing to see all those beautiful places in screen.

Action scenes are worth mentioning. Every frame (I literally mean frame; remember there ll be min 25 frames per sec) in action sequence was taken with utmost perfection and style! Sheer hard work!

Music by ARR is apt for this movie. Kadhal anukkal and Kilimanjaaro which are supposed to slow down the pace of movie were loved by audience for the location. While those jathis in 'Chitti Dance showcase' was showing the brilliance of ARR, Irumbile and Arima Arima were enjoyed by audience with roar!

Finally, Shankar! Man, you made us feel proud! Every Tamilian should be proud for having him in Tamizh film industry. He is nothing less than James Cameroon or Spielberg, really no exaggeration!

See Enthiran in large screens lot of times and every time you see, give standing ovation to the entire team!

  1. I'm going to see on wednesday, your words on Shankar are my thoughts too, he always remains as an unsung hero in his movies. Nice words about ARR's music hmmm.....

  2. @Krishna, Before Enthiran, I always had the opinion that Shankar wastes money (though I always appreciated the quality of his work). After Enthiran, I won't call him an 'oodhaari' :)

About ARR.. ppl usually criticise me that I go pre-determined when reviewing non-Ilayaraja musical works. Well, I am not sure whether I do that way. But definitely, this time I went pre-determined that I should not write anything bad about ARR :)

  3. Ok, Answer these ... 1) Isn't it a simple plot with a lot of exaggeration ...2) There is no "Rajnikanthism" in this movie for which we thronged to theatres .. 3) This script has already been done in hollywood movies like iROBOT and even a kannada movie has attempted this (Hollywood).. STORY is a big concern .. 4) Scenes like talking to mosquito etc are a real cause of worry man ..

    1) No. It is a simple plot with brilliant presentatiom!
    2) It means you have to change your idea about Rajinikanthism. Rajin fans are more than satisfied!
    3) There are crores of ppl (including me) who are not even aware of this. So STORY is something great for us
    4) I don't understand your point. But by all means, we people have the tendency to question many stuffs in Indian fantasy movies and call it illogical but appreciate the same taken in Hollywood!

  5. Sidharth !! I agree to you Rajinikanthism is not there 1) Title Music is not good 2) Rajini intro is not good but i do not know , if we people think like this !! Would not have shanker thought about this ??? But I did not expect unbiased Karthik would exaggerate this much about Endhiran !! Over all Its an optimized performance by Rajini , Ash , Shanker , ARR and Marketing KNidhi Maran !! Good effort and should get good result !! Of course there are so many hollywood movies have themes like this but first time we are comparing an Indian movie with Hollywood movie (ofcourse We did in dasavatharam) More over we need a change !! and finally change has been provided... Even I would say they have literally copied from my skit !! but we should respect their work

  6. Karthi i saw the movie this saturday and it was good .. few views of mine
    * the intro of rajini was not at all good ..
    * to doctor vasegara few more make up could have been done to make him much younger , when aish is too too good in all scenes but rajini failed in few scenes ...
*there was no info that was given on rajini's education not sure if i did not hear that , i just heard it was his 10 yrs hard work ...
*shankar has done an excellent job has worked very hard on the script and the scene creation ..
    * i saw the hard hard work of rathnavel each scene was super ...rahman music was too good
    * this is first of the kind of movie in tamil and it deserves a big clap i liked it very much but these minor mistakes which i feel could have been avoided ...
    * shankar has made everything good and has proved his talent as a good director , these kind of movies are need for tamil/ indian industry so that we can also see some movies like inception and other hollywood movies ...

Rajini's education.. It is mentioned during that International conference scene when Rajni is introduced as PHD (or Post Doc?) from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)
